Rigs of the Road

If it's got wheels, gets its owners to the beach, has some style, and (on at least some occasions) provides primary shelter, it's going into the dahaole Surf Rig catalog.  Check out the latest rigs in Volume N°1!

Big Sur or Bigfoot?

Bradduh! I was checking out this picture I took around the campfire in Big Sur and got freaked out! Check out what appears looming in the back if I shift the gamma colors settings - click the pic.

Ask a local.  He'll tell you where to go.

Joe takes a beating and keeps on surfing

In July, Joe went out to Manhattan Beach and continued to learn how to surf.  After tackling 6-foot waves at the Cove (Palos Verdes, CA) last January, the whitewater and rip currents at Manhattan were a logical next step.

But it wasn't all good.  Here's the clip of young Joe learning - the hard way - that the surf can turn you upside down in a hurry.

Kook Story: Founding Kook Finds Panama - Mysto-Surf Jaunt

"We passed an island cowboy riding his horse with a machete dangling from his mount. It seemed he had nothing to worry about with his setup including the possibility of confronting a big cat, wild boar, or irritable bull defending his heard. We jumped in the two boats and headed for the point around the corner from the base camp...."

Kook Story: The Stoke - Just because it can be elusive doesn't mean it's not there

"Point is, that I spent a lot of time on the beach and in the water from San Diego to Santa Cruz. Dates, parties, girls, concerts, bon fires (when they still let us do that), and campouts. Guess what, I still never got it and remained hopelessly ignorant of the stoke.  Then a little more than a year ago...."
